It's been so hot in Mammoth lately that all I've been thinking about is ice cream. So, I'm thinking of as many ways to eat ice cream as possible. Who ate Magic Shell growing up? Honestly, I was more of a chocolate syrup kind of girl myself. But, my brother and sister were obsessed with Magic Shell. I'll admit that one of the reasons I didn't like it as much was because I felt the amount of chocolate was lacking. And, if I was allowed to eat dessert I preferred to get as much chocolate as I could. So, I have created a Magic Shell that is not lacking in chocolate flavor. I actually make it with dark chocolate. And, it's also vegan so you can enjoy it on any kind of ice cream. This Magic Shell recipe is so easy, there's no reason you shouldn't have it in your pantry all summer long.
Makes 10 ounces
8 ounces (1 1/2 cups plus 1 tablespoon) chopped organic dark chocolate
57 grams (1/4 cup) organic coconut oil
Method In a double boiler add the dark chocolate and coconut oil. Melt until completely melted.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
